happy ending
Malin Kundang
orientation
Once upon a time, there lived a diligent and smart boy named Malin Kundang. He lives on the beach with his elderly mother. They live harmoniously and quite happily despite living in poverty.
complications
One day, a large ship docked to the beach near the village of Malin. The people from the big ships asked the people to join and work on their ships because they were going to trade between islands. Malin Kundang was very interested, he wanted to join a big ship because he wanted to improve the quality of life for his family. However, Malin's mother was worried about Malin, so Malin did not get permission from her mother. Then, Malin still continued the argument until his mother said yes. Finally, he joined and sailed with the big ship.
After five years later, Malin Kundang became a rich trader because he was successful in inter-island trade. After that, he married the beautiful daughter of another rich merchant. Then, he returned to his village with his beautiful wife. His wife did not know the real family of Malin and his descendants. Hearing the good news, Malin's mother walked quickly to Malin with happiness. He brought a plate of Bika cake because Malin liked it very much. But, what he got, Malin acted as if he never knew who he was. Malin did not recognize the old woman as his poor mother, and then he kicked Bika's cake which was brought by Malin's mother to pieces.
The mother was very heartbroken because Malin was disobedient to her, the woman who took care of him since he was little and had given birth to him. Later, his mother said that if he wasn't the malin he knew, he would leave happily. But, if he really was Malin, he would curse Malin to stone.
resolution
Suddenly, Malin Kundang's big ship was swayed by heavy rain and storms. It made all the crew on the big ship bounced out. Malin realized that it was his fault for disobeying his mother.
But the thief Kundang was saved, he then approached his mother and apologized profusely to his mother. He promised never to do that again. Then Malin Kundang took his mother to the other side of the island and made her happy with what he had.
Moral message
We must value honoring our parents while they are around no matter how bad they look. We have to make our parents happy with what we are capable of and what we are.
